Stem Cracks

   Have a problem with stem cracks and wondered if using Bravo as a paste
covering will be as good a Captan.  I'm running low on Captan and need to do
something quick.  Is it advised to completely cover the stem all the way to
the pumpkin like I see in some of the pictures?  I have a good pumpkin and
want to make it last till October.
