I was there the day you took third to that pumpkin with the 6" stem
split. I can still see your face, it was total disbelief. As I recall a
piece of straw didn't penetrate into the cavity. So as the rule goes it
was still admissible into the contest. Odds are in our favor. They can't
always be first.
