Good Luck here.
I am having trememdous good luck. Not a weed has grown in my yard
because it is covered three feet+ deep in pumpkins vines.
I have four very beautiful fruit gowing, two on each of two plants.
I have a hunch that people are holding all the good news until the
weigh-offs. Then is the time to say how wonderful things really were
instead of saying how well they are going now, only to find that what
seemed so good suddenly went bad (by moose bite or flat vine or some
other cause).
I am beginning to think farmers always expect the worse so they will not
be disappointed, and growers of AG's are all farmer at heart.
But I will say that my Fat Boy, pollinated on July 7, is now at 460 lbs.
estimated size by the OTT measurements. Not bad for a small backyard in
the city. I wish I could claim that my skill was responsible. However, I
know it is just good fortune so far.
But I sure enjoy looking at that oversized thing in my back yard and
showing it off as my work to the neighbors.
