Re: Good Luck/Bad luck

Well, this is the way i look at it. No, my luck has not been perfect, but it
has been good. If my pumpkins all split, and I have nothing for the weighoff
then my luck would be questionable, but if all my good seeds had not sprouted,
then I would have had bad luck. I am learning an awful lot about the plants
this year and about how to deal with problems associated with the super giant
pumpkins, those with potential to go over 1000 pounds. Having 7 plants is
giving me an opportunity to see pretty much everything a garden can throw at
ya. I am learning how hard I can push the plants, what fertilizers and how
much and when to increase pumpkin size and am finally getting my feet wet with
some experiments I have wanted to do but didn't have enough pumpkins to risk
trying them on.
Yes Scar split, but the experience is nearly as important as having that
monster live to see a weigh off. Experience is money in the bank. I know now
with the techniques I am using, soil condition, and seed stock that a 1000
pounder can and will come out of my patch and i have taken good enough notes
to do everything the same next year if that is what it takes and all pumpkins
split tomorrow.
Keep in mind that everyone starts with the same luck, it is the application of
knowledge and hard work that makes ones chances of getting lucky improve.

Take Care,
