Bill & Patty live in Medicine Hat
They grew a pumpkin that was really fat
We all looked in after each week end
 To see there progress  in the post they'd send
They've got a real cool web page where you can  see
Though they're very far away like a neighbor we'd be
Now they could make a tennis ball really shrink
Quicker than any thing that I can even think
But then one day we heard about the crack
Then days went by and they didn't write back
And in the end the word came down
This wasn't the year they'd wear the crown
At the local weigh off where they'd hoped to be
Winners in the highest weigh category
I was saddened this morning when I read your  news
Couldn't go back to bed for a little extra snooze
Cause I wanted to be able to write you a post
That would lighten your hearts when you need it most
Don't have  a magic spell , or a powder, or a pill
 To help  you guys  today,  but just say it I will
That my throat gave a gulp and my eyes they did sting
And we all understand how you feel bout this thing
And we know for sure that  one thing is true
That we definitely haven't heard the last of you
