Had a great weekend here in the East. Saturday afternoon I went to my buddy
Art Franek's patch to meet some of the west coast growers who visited him
while they were in our area for the patch tour and picnic in Ohio. I met Jack
and Sherrie Larue, Kirk Mombert, Lincoln Mettler, and our very own Brett
Hester. All very nice, easy to talk to, people.
Sunday I drove to Ohio for the tour which was great. In addition to the above
mentioned, I also met Jim Ives, Bill Greer, Paul McIntyre, and Hugh Wiberg.
Nic Welty made it back from abroad just in time to attend. Jerry Rose, from
the list, was one of the patches featured this year, he had some pretty good
ones going. I also met Bill Sadowski from the list, Enjoyed talking with you
Bill. Don Vanhoutte brought watermelon and cantaloupe from Michigan to go
with the great food provided by the Ohio growers.
I just wanted to let everyone know if you ever decide to travel to the
Ohio Valley Growers picnic, you will not be disappointed.
My compliments to Dick Baird, Tim Parks, Al Gibson, and all who help to
organize the event in Ohio.
