I also seem to have this problem this year..in both my patches and they're 45
miles apart with different soils and different watering techniques.I've
noticed a large % of these stems with the "rot" at the outside curve of the
stem where the stem joins the vine seem to be in leaf stems where I have
borer damage way up on the stem near the leaf.I'm thinking it may have
something to do with the rotting byproducts of my favorite little season
enders. Do you find this to be the case?
I also have moles.....but they only eat the earthworms I hear.
The rabbits eat the leaves and vine tips only so its not them.
The woodchucks tend to destroy localized areas only..like a ten x ten area
then move on.....so its not them.
The horse that got loose only stomped around in the 720Hester patch...and
this occures all over so it wasn't him.
The cucumber beetles seem to be more interested in the flowers than the
stems so I can't believe its them.
The mildew is only on the leaves........so far
I don't know what the squashbugs are doing other than standing proudly on
the leavetops knowing that I'll do more damage to the patch by trampling in
after them than ever getting them....
The damage pre-exists the Marvelous Pumpkin climbing kittens that I'm
hoping get caught in the havaheart loaded for woodchuck...
so ,I don't know what it is........any help is appreciated.
