dying pumpkins

Hi , i seem to have a problem with three of my plants. i have four plants. my 935 seems ok the other plants pumpkins keep dying(stop growing) i know this is normal for first few pumpkins but we,re talking third and fourth pumpkin on a vine and on any given vine. they get about basketball size and then stop and within a few days they are soft . also they seem to be a little too yellow/orange even when quite young as if they were aging real fast. i can,t beleive im fertilizing too much.  any one got any ideas?  thanx       craig
