I had the same thing last year. I tried some waterproof tape and a coat
of pruning sealer. No luck, it just oozed a heavy whittish gel. I just
read something about this problem and they mentioned it could be a lack of
magnesium........use epsom salt 1 tbs per gallon of water. Only a
thought.
