Hi, all!
Arrived in NY earlier this week, and finally made it to Vic Thomas' patch
Thursday. What a delightful garden. Besides having 6 different pepo varieties
growing, he has Big Max and Prizewinners at the east end of the garden and 4
Andersen 634's on the west end.
I have to take a moment to say that Vic's Ag plants, the 634's are simply
gorgeous. The leaf stems are more than 4 ft tall, leaves having that dark
green appearance. Huge diameter vines and prolific sets. He has many large
ones on the vines, with one particularly huge one that looks like a real
winner. Most are in the 250-300 pound range right now, growing like crazy.
All fruits are pumpkins.
If anyone else is growing the Andersen 634, I'd like to hear from you
regarding your growing experience and progress.
Also, a note for Harold. If you would like seeds from any of Vic's pumpkins
to examine and study under microscope, you are welcome to them. He has Baby
Pam, Ghost Rider, Pankow, Howden, Thomas' Halloween variety and Connecticut
field. Maximas include Big Max, Prizewinner and AG. He also has several
varieties of hard squash in another garden.
