Tarp construction question

Regarding lifting tarps, I've never seen one close up; is there any
heavy duty reinforcement to back up the handle holes,
like nylon strap webbing sewn around the rim of the tarp or anything?
Or is it just a hole in the tarp that's bound on the inside
to prevent fraying?
Maybe such reinforcement isn't necessary?
