Gotta go against the flow on this one.
The free market is based on supply and demand. If someone can drum up a
demand for a product, more power to him. The kid just might have a shot at
a Madison Avenue advertising career. Are the seeds he's selling worth $2
apiece? You betcha, as long as someone is willing to pay it. That, too, is
a fundamental truth supporting our way of life.
Having said that, I want to point out that an informed consumer would
probably reject his products in favor of more "traditional" seed sources.
As we all know, it takes very little to search the Web for information on
"giant pumpkins" (that's how I got started and found P&P seeds). Those not
willing to take the time or make the effort may purchase his seeds. But you
know, they may be delighted in the results.
If the guy truly sells what he is advertising, he is ripping off nobody. If
he is violating no patent laws then he is just another entrepreneur trying
to turn a buck on the Internet.
Yesterday, my family went to a Detroit Tigers baseball game and spent $3
for a 20 oz bottle of water. It was an extremely high price for something
we could get for less than $1 at the corner market. Were we ripped off?
Nope. We knew what we were getting and how much it cost. We made an
informed purchase decision from a legitimate vendor.
As long as he violates no laws, the kid selling the seeds is no less
legitimate.

BTW, trying to negatively associate any member of this list with the seed
seller is, at best, a cheap shot and not worthy of the list.
