okay. How about from now on we have some important chat. This has gone
way too far. I'm going to start right now on the road to bringing back
some meaningful conversation about pumpkins. I urge all of us to get back
into the swing of things and keep our priorities in check.
So, here we go. Yesterday, someone replied to the message "squash
surprises", unfortunatly i deleted his post after i read it, so i'm not
sure about specifics, but, from what i remember, this person grew an
anderson 815, like rocky, but, his pumpkin weighed slightly less than the
estimates, unlike rocky's which weighed an outstanding 17 +% over the
charts. Any thought's as to why this is? Brainstorming........at first i
thought that the genetic capability of a pumpkin to put out thick walled
pumpkins played a role, and what could put them out thicker than an 815
anderson? Not much, but, it weighed light. I gave this much thought, and
i think that perhaps grower intervention played a big role. Now, i don't
know this person, so i have no idea what his fert, /water schedule was,
however, i've heard rocky mention that he was heavy handed last year with
the fert and water, could this have been a major contributing factor to his
wall thckness? Brett hester, 720, grown from a 697 ciliberto, if i
remember correctly he weighed 19% heavy, why? I remember when brett lost
his 608 last year, he blamed it on him pushing it hard causing it to split,
this lead me to believe that he probably pushed his 697 hard as well, and
guess what? thck walls. Paul handy, this guys amazing, every year, no
matter what he's growing, those suckers weigh heavy, what's he doing
exaclty. ? Don't know, but maybe it's something similiar to brett and
Rocky. Let the debate begin,
scott
