re ;rainy day pollination

I have also had little success pollinating on rainy days. the females don't
seem to want to open. I think we need to be patient and let the flower open
fully in its own time. some how the flower seems to know when it wont rain.
also wet pollen doesn't work so well and pollen washes off in the rain
after . one of my pumpkins last year I pollinated buy finding a suitable
male that had two bees in it. it looked like rain so I turned the male
upside down on top of the female and trapped the bees. the flower kept the
water out, and the bees in. I think if we suspect rain we should supply
rain cover after pollination.
