Georgia update
Hey all,
Thank you very much to all who emailed to congratulate me on the new Georgia
record. It means more to me than you can imagine hearing from you all.
I think Bob Attaway can attest to the fact that I was pretty disappointed
over not reaching the 600 pounds goal I had set. I have no right complaining
though - it's my best season yet and I should be thankful. I am.
Stats :
554 - 760 McInnis x 780 Eaton(plant #1) & 535.5 McInnis
Short and wide, nice orange color, deeply ribbed. 139-78-79 +5%
565 - 780 Eaton(plant #1) x 760 McInnis
Remarkable. The main vine had rotted away 2 weeks ago and she had been
growing off the strength of her secondaries! This one could have been a
contender anywhere. 132-79-80 +11.1%! Wow.
592 - 780 Eaton(plant #2) x 760 McInnis
Very tall, light colored, very short stem. I picked this one too early. She
could have gone over 600 pounds easy. Live and learn!
134-87-83 +4.4%
I still have one other on the vine (937 Mombert x 888 Mombert) that
estimates at just over 420 pounds. She's still growing.
With all the heat we had this summer, one pumpkin per plant was all I was
able to set.
Al, your 780 Eaton seed is great! I will most definitely be planting it
again next year. Thank you for letting me plant it. You've created quite a
seed! I suspect we'll be hearing more about it in the coming month.
Special thanks to Bob and Alice Attaway. Jeez. You two are most definitely
two of the nicest, friendliest, most accomodating folks I have ever met. I
couldn't have done it without you! I only hope I can someday return the
favor.
To Bob, Alice, John, June, Carolyn, Doug, Sonya, Timbo, Barb, Scott, Frank,
and all the rest down here - 700 pounds IS possible.
Let's do it.
Until next year,
Mike Nepereny
