Re: AG's in local fairs
Local Fairs,
Of course we sgould bring them, It increases the draw to the normally
overlooked agriculture displays, especially the younger generation who would
rather see a 1000 pound cow, than a "typical" 75 pound big pumpkin. However
when I brought my #662 to the fair last year , all ages stopped to look at
that. It also helps our sport to grow. Around here those growers who see
the big ones blow away their 75 pounders take it as a challenge and grow
giants themselves so as to not be outdone. I leave my cards right beside the
pumpkin and offer seeds to all takers who want to grow giants the following
year. It also gives us a chance to get our fruit officially weighed in if it
has a minor split or crack, and looks like it may go down. If it lasts the
duration of the fair it counts, but if it rots during the fair you are DQed.
I guess thats my take on the situation.
