Well, you are probably not going to beleive this!
Just an hour ago at the patch, I was looking over my 780 Mombert (567.5
Mombert x 946.5 Geerts), and I found single stalks with TWO male flowers on
them! One stalk, two flowers! The stalks were way thicker than your average
flower stalk, too, like a side vine, almost.
O.K., now if you think that is weird, forget it....
I also found a genuine HERMAPHRODITE flower! I am serious! It has both male
and female parts! The pollen section is split down the middle, with a
segmented pistol coming up in between them. I thought I was going crazy, but
it is for real!
There is no ovule (baby pumpkin-to-be) under the flower though. Has this ever
happened before to anyone else?! I am going to try to get a picture of it
tomorrow.
Also, I am going to check if there are any more.
