The theory of powdery mildew needing warm and damp conditions to thrive is
textbook. But to contradict, I have powdery mildew and we have had straight
temp's in 20's-50's and humidity varying from 40-100%. Potash increases a
plants ability to resist diseases. I would say that is the reason for your
success.
