Bob,
I am forwarding you the e-mail that Terry Kelley, our vegetable crop 
specialist, sent to me @ weeds in your pumpkin patch...

Curbit is basically the only preemergence compound labled for 
pumpkins. Poast is a good grass control material. He might want 
to use Roundup or Gramoxone to kill the sprouted weeds a few 
days before he plants. If he used Roundup, he should wait about 
two weeks until planting. That way if he doesn't disturb the soil 
anymore for awhile, it will kill what has already sprouted.

I would go with Curbit at a medium to high rate as a preemergence 
treatment if at all possible, however.
