brad,
a good strategy we lost our "back up plant " to high winds the last week
of may hail shredded the 4mil plastic cold frame over the plant the wind
then pulled the wood frame we thought was anchored securely up and
exposed the 3 week old plant to heavy winds that ripped it out of the
ground and dropped the plant 25 feet or better from where we had planted
it our primary plant had a cold frame made from old concrete forms with
old sliding glass door panels for light to enter that plant had no
damage later on we had a wild turkey hen and her chicks that liked our
gardens tilled soil for thier personal dirt bath after that the farmer
who lives down the road (where we get our manure ) had a break out and
25 of his young stock thought our garden garden was the local dance
spot killed in action were 1 pepper 1 cabbage and 1 leaf on ag plant
with a pumpkin about 150 lbs on it that cow must have been abducted by
aliens because only one set of tracks found it's way into the wind break
around our pumpkin and none lead out this year we have plans for a
higher wind break around our plants to help keep out the critters
