Re: Genetics 1-A
Here is some of the info I found in the" pumpkin
king".........................that dill made crosses from the Goderich
giant and the Genuine Mammoth. he then worked with the seed for years
until he felt he had isolated two strains. One looking long and flat and
the other more round and blocky. While keeping both in experimentation.
Dill focused on the blocky.
But you do wonder if the two isolated strains had been tried to create
Hybrid vigor already. As someone mentioned before perhaps the Mombert is
one of these Hybrid. the pumpkin itself is very different as well as its
seed. And perhaps the leader of the pack now the 1140 is a product of a
little vigor as the mombert x a holland
Are we not breeding today the best offspring from interelated sources?
And I wonder if you can consider them distant cousin ,mother, father
sister, uncle.grandpa as our crosses are different generations out from
perhaps an original The point is And i don't know if its true. But can
you trace back and find that most, , the AG offspring today are related.
Can we look at the trees and find that they go back to a pair of given
parents. And if this is so we are only churning the combo variations and
then only selecting the cream of those combos that rise to the top and we
take notice.
I think that this selective cross breeding style has perhaps speeded up the
discovery process of finding parent variation combos that kick butt.
The selfing process and cleansing takes time and even if we created a
reliable look environmental factors will still play the decisive role in
size(weight) You would just have a bunch of (mini me's) at weigh-offs .
