Joe, this selfing brings out any homozygosity in a herterogeneous plant
or keeps the homozygosity in the plant. Selfing will bring out the hidden
recessive gene, and get rid of some of the hetero genes making pure breeding
lines. If a line is selfed for long enough one will have almost all pure
breeding lines.
