Well,,,,,,,,,,,,there is that swelling and weight gain that go along with
pregnancy that can last from nine months to a lifetime....... depending on
the individual.......But your right, it doesn't affect her genetic
makeup.........So what the pollinator does to the pumpkin fruit is start the
swelling and weight gain thing that goes along with developing and ripening
the seeds for the next generation......My wife and I didn't give any of our
genetic makeup to our pumpkins though........that went to our
daughters..........the pollinators genetic traits go into the makeup of the
seeds........ to be borne out in the next generation of pumpkins
plants........as more of the human genome and plant genomes are being
unraveled..........they are finding we have more in common genetically with
plants than was ever expected........It has been learned that bananas share
about half of their genetic makeup in common with humans..........I wonder
if AG's share a similar proportion with humans.........maybe more with large
humans...........if this is the case maybe we should weigh the grower along
with the pumpkin............Lincoln Mettler has been an advocate for this
for several years now...........I'm starting to like that idea.............I
think I'll go have a piece of pie and a milkshake now..........
