Over the past few weeks, I undertook a project to update Duncan's list of the top 1,000 official pumpkins of all time.  I updated Duncan's list and bumped it against every resource I could find including the AGGC database.  I ended up with two lists ranking official pumpkins;  the top 250 grown this year, and the top 1,000 of all time.  These lists include only officially weighed pumpkins and pumpkins that I could confirm were weighed on accurate scales.

To place in the top 250 official pumpkins grown this year, a grower had to beat 682 pounds.  To place in the top 1,000 of all time a grower had to beat 687 pounds.

Amazingly, almost 25% of the top 1,000 official pumpkins of all time were grown this year.  Over 50% of the top 1,000 pumpkins were grown in the last three years.  This just reinforces how much average weights of competitively grown pumpkins have advanced in the last few years.
