I have asked the guys at our water works and they  told me that if you let city water sit the chlorine will evaporate out of the water,they say people worry to much about it and if they are worried then just set a gallon of water in the fridge uncovered (no top).in a couple of hours no more chlorine.
So if you fill water tanks (55 gal drums or what ever) let them sit for a day before using the water there will be no chlorine in it when you water your plants and it will also be warm water not cold and now we have less shock to the plant and less stress.

Have a question. I have primarily used municipal water for my plants and am searching for alternative ways to water my plants. Problem is that the water I've used contains a fair amount of chlorine which some local people have said isn't very good for the pumpkins. I haven't grown any over 310# so maybe this is true. The plants don't seem to suffer but the pumpkins do.
I'm looking to possibly drill a well just for my garden, or another possibility is to pump rainwater out of barrels or I live about a 1/4 mile from the Ohio River and some have said plants will flourish from river water. Does anyone have any insight on this particular problem. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!
