experimented with hydroponics, but It's been a long time and I don't remember who it was.
I did a little experiment on a pumpkins seed that sprouted on it's own in my planter. I have no idea where it came from but I figured I'd let it grow
just to see what it does. As it grew across the sidewalk, I put some aluminum foil pans under the leaf junctures where the root nodes were with some
water and a mild solution of Miracle Grow. They did root out in the water just as if they were in the soil. I don't know if this will work the same
with the whole plant or stump, but one thing to consider is without soil, the plant is not stabilized and can roll over easily. I think some other
things to consider is the right type of fertilizer, water stagnation, or loss of water. ( I had to make sure the pans never ran out of water due to
evaporation ).
The pumpkin on my plant grew to about 150 pounds but it was just an experiment anyway.
