Kathie is right.....we all don't know each other
and payment of the prize could become
and issue.
O.K.......here's an idea on how a cash purse
for the 2002 Champ Contest might work......
Vince, Kathie and Brett all seem like honest
people to me. (I've met all three).
Lets say we mail the $5 for each guess to
Vince. When he recieves the fiver he
e-mails an ackowlegement to the person
who sent it and acknowledges that he has
revieved the five and also confirms the weight
that is being guessed. He also e-mails this
info to Kathie and Brett. They e-mail each
other once a week to confirm that the books
balance and then Vince posts the results
on his webpage......Vince writes a check to
the winner at the end of the contest.
Its a little bit of work but it is a sysetm of
check and balances

Since we don't all know each other, there may be some reluctance to
sending cash. Who will hold it, etc? Look how many growers got stiffed
on Dennis's otherwise wonderful Secret Santa event, and that was for
nothing more than seeds. But if you can work out the details, it's a
great idea. Vince, did you receive any complaints when your 2001 contest
ended?
Don't forget, both of you, we're looking for entries into the contest as
to which CA grower will first officially weigh a thousand pounder. No
entry fee. Make your guess to the list, please, and include an estimated
weight, to be used as tiebreaker.
Deb Sundstrom is the judge, and judge's decisions are final except when
she changes her mind about something (woman's prerogative).
The prize is, we think, we hope, the thousand-pound AG grower will send
seeds to the winner. If not, Deb's gonna send cheesecake through the
mail.
