RE: post office--PLEASE READ

Craig, below is what I posted on November 4th to THIS list:

Has anybody sent anything across the borders yet? I'm also a member on a
tomato list/group and heard of MAJOR problems this year. Used to allow what
was considered "hobby" grower amounts but supposedly heard that has been
discontinued; last I heard was everything needed a declaration of contents
(which means Genus/Species name) AND A PHYTO CERTIFICATE! I'll try to round
up some posts from an APHIS inspector on that tomato group or some links.

<end of paste>

I tried contacting the APHIS inspector on the VT/CAN border on the tomato
forum I'm on but he has his e-mail blocked so can't e-mail him; I've posted
questions directly on the webpage thread at the forum hoping to pry an
answer or reply from him but to no avail. I've even posted us AG growers
procedure there, how we do the bubblepack thingie back & forth. No answer
from him, just a few others saying that they fill out the green slip when
sending TO Canada. I'll try to post a link to the entire thread, which was
originally about somebody getting tomato seeds from Russia into the US so
anyone can read it all.

I really took this seriously when I posted it about a month ago, however
nobody replied to my post here--maybe not taking it seriously, perhaps not
knowing the answer, or maybe just reading it and moved on to the next
message; maybe everyone just took note of the availability of seeds &
disregarded my reply, as my reply was to Glenn Needham's seed offer. The
original thread was titled 2003 Seeds Available, of which, when I replied, I
changed it to "RE: 2003 Seeds Available-2003 BORDER CROSSINGS" so I'm sorry
to say that maybe everybody hurriedly sent out bubblepacks for nothing. I
hope not but I guess time will tell.

Would anyone care to reply to this THIS TIME? Any Americans receiving
Canadian seed bubblepacks? Any problems?

Here's the thread from GardenWeb; the APHIS inspector's username in the
thread is "barkeater" from Vermont. If you or anyone has trouble with the
link not working due to the length, I'll include a TinyURL link below it
that will take you to the exact same page, either click on or paste one of
the following URL's.
