RE: post office--PLEASE READ-CHART 5-7

To cut right to the chase? And go to the chart showing seeds are prhibited,
I put the page from the APHIS manual here:

http://tinyurl.com/z4fq

Don't forget, if you are using Zone Alarm Pro, and you get a "not authorized
to view this" message click on Zone Alarm icon, go to Privacy and look for
the site in the list, LEFT click on the Mobile Code RED "X" and choose
"Allow" then reload or click the link again. This procedure works for any
pdf file at any site. Amazing how many pdf files we may have missed because
of this message.

http://tinyurl.com/xnlo This is the thread on GW.

Go to near the bottom of this thread at the URL above; pumpkin seeds for
planting have nothing to do with the FDA but APHIS instead. The chart I
posted there looked like they didn't need a phyto certificate. HOWEVER, when
I went to the APHIS site and started at the most updated Chapter 3, it took
me to an older chapter 5, dated 2001, which is not current! Go to the pdf
file listed in the last post to that thread above and follow all the prompts
and it NOW takes you to the recently updated Chapter 5, which ends up at
Chart 5-7, which unfortunately says Prohibited. I tried every way possible
to find a loophole favorable. I also contacted the APHIS guy in charge of
the manuals (not barkeater but someone directly at APHIS hdqtrs) and this is
what he wrote:

Mark,

I don't completely understand why this happens, but I think you are somehow
accessing an outdated version of the Canadian Border Manual. What is the
date on the bottom of the pages you are viewing? Is it something earlier
than 03/2003-03? If an earlier version of the manual is stored in your
cache, you may need to clear it in order to see the most current version.

According to the most recent information I have available, even small
amounts of vegetable seed require ONE of the following documents:

   A phytosanitary certificate
   A Canadian seed analysis certificate
A seed export label from an authorized exporter

Here is a pdf file of what should appear in the online version of the
manual:

(See attached file: 5 Procedures.pdf)

Hope this helps, and feel free to get back in touch with me if you have any
other questions!

Also, the 5-5 chart may not show up later tonight as freeyellow is doing
maintenance from 11pm SAT to 4am SUN. So, Canadians please research what a
Canadian seed analysis certificate is & how much $$.
