Re: The Next Great Cross
There are a few genetics to breed into the 723 X 845 or the 845/723 X 846
genetic lines.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
962 Williamse
{ purified 674 Waterman gentics, selfed a million times}
898 Knauss
{An isolated {?} early 88 Dill genetic}
815 Anderson / 914 Wentzell / 611 Hester
{The 1006 or 697 stuff is basically non related except many generations back}
Hester/ Stellplug {and many other growers}Squash Genetics
{Several different type squash lines which are non related or have little in
common}
940 98 Mombert
{Only the 567 Mombert genetic is a common background, no Llyod genetics/ no
827/722 genetics. May not be the best genetic to cross into a 846 cross for
true "hybrid vigor", but I definatly wouldn't count it out as a good
pollinator either.This may be a real good one to mix back with a 805 Pukos
since it is very heavy on the Llyod genetics.}
The 1064 Needham
{Very little 'genetic imbreeding' in these seed genetics... has common initial
backgrounds with 845/723/845, but they are many generations back.}

I'm sure there actually are many other genetic lines that have been grown for
enough generations to not have those genes
affect probable "hybrid vigor" which these genetics would very likely provide.
These are the ones that come to mind....anyone care to add in some others? I'm
sure there are plenty more other ones like the ones I listed. I'm sorry if I
offended those growers who have genetic seed strains which I failed to
mention.
