This is one of the topics that seems to get answers all across the board .
How to fertilize and how much???. Reviewing one of the Holland tapes I
noticed that Joel Holland has a large tub of churning water....Then i read
in the PNWPG that others have these churning tubs that churn fertilizer and
calcium.....while the sun warms the water. Here in California we have
headed more towards less fertilizer and better preparing the soil. I am
amazed at the copious amounts of fert.some growers use like a cup of
12-00-44 everyday in the last months. All this after putting 20lbs of
granular fert. in the ground...in the spring....reading Barry Dejong
account he added a large margarine tub half full into a 55 gallon
drum....because there has been success on both ends of the spectrum and
there doesn't appear to be a set formula . Is it mainly genetics because
the plants only use what they need and the other is just extra??? Some
claim that using too much fert actually makes smaller pumpkins. But if
the above accounts aren't too much? what is?? ..............Brock
