I have noticed the night grow thing here in Ohio as well. If my pumpkin
would grow 3 inches in a 24 hour period 2-2 1/2 would occur during the
night hours. Only thing I could think of is during the day the plant is
losing more water to evaporation than is reaching the fruit then at night
more "rushes in" to the pumpkin as much less evaportaes. Maybe then later
in the season, a bigger plant, more vine roots, more water to the pumpkin
all the time??? My pumpkin tended to level out, even both day and night
later in the season, but it was more difficult to get accurate
measures(less growth, ribs etc.).Might be way off but its a thought. I also
noticed something about the woody vs. white seeds, the woody ones are
almost always quite a bit thicker.
