I am not a plant scientist, and I don't have any numbers, but I did most
assuredly grow up on a farm. I am also less sure about lightning and
pumpkins. But I know from experience that on July and August nights you
can hear corn growing, and I also know that for the most dramatic effect
- like, for instance, if you have to demonstrate for city types or other
non-believers - you should go out in the night after one of those wild
summer thunderstorms.
