Today I was looking around in the garage and spotted a small pumpkin I had put
there in November. I had been thinking I would carve it but never did. The
pumpkin had come from my 1006 seed and I had actually hand pollinated it in
late August just because it was there. Anyway, it grew to be 51 pounds on the
scale today. I cut it open and there were about 300 decent looking seeds
inside and many more not so good. After taking them out, about half look
really viable. So I have an extra 150 seeds with 1006/1006 genetics. Anyone
think I can grow a big pumpkin with seeds from a 51 pound pumpkin? And if so,
doesn't this mean you think genetics are more important than the size of your
pumpkin? I am wondering if I can beat Chris Anderson next year using some
seeds from a 51 pounder? I can't help but think this will be worrying Chris.
Chris, want some seeds from my 51 pounder???? These babies could really do the
trick in my Pumpkin Biosphere.
