After receiving many seed request I realized how many silent listeners are
out there in pumpkin land. I would like to thank those that inquired about
my 97 seed,..... in a rush to get the seed out I feel like I neglected to
send any helpful basics.... to beginners.... most of these lessons i have
learned the hard way some i have heard about.......they are so simple they
don't get mention to often on the list. So here are a few with hopes
others can add to......
Don't rush to start your seeds too early
pointed end down
"Test germinate" a few to see that all is well
Don't make it to wet or too dry a nice damp feel
these roots grow very fast so don't leave in a peat pots more than a few
days..... if you have to get a bigger pot and tranplant into.
plant enough back up seeds in case of problems...don't hold for the future
its all now !!
protect your seedling from wind and frost.
make sure your wind break won't blow down on your plant...
Don't get too doting!
Don't nuke your seedling with pesticides or fungicides when they are young....
make sure you open your mini green house on warm days
The roots extend all over so water the intire patch
Any contributions of don'ts or do's are welcome!!!!!!!!!....brock
