Roots vs Leaves

Please recall that in 1997 Chris Andersen had the largest pumpkin in the
world. He also did some experimenting and I believe his thoughts are posted
somewhere in the Archives after the growing season in 97. Anyway, he dug deep
holes and shallow holes and all kinds of holes and then checked the roots at
the end of the season. His conclusion: Don't waste your time digging deep
holes. Are you out there Chris??? I recall liking his conclusion as I already
have enough to do.
