"1998"

Hi Group

Season's Greetings to All

I have been on the "mallorn page"
since June '98.
As a fairly new member I am amazed by the tremendous amount of knowledge
that our
group has "collectively"
gathered on AG pumpkins.
If we pooled this amazing wealth
of knowledge and worked as a
team, I have no doubt that we would have
a 2,000 lb. pumpkin in our lifetime.
We all know that this is not going to
happen because AG pumpkin growing
is an individual competion between friends.
( global friends to be precise -- the
"net" has enabled us to introduce ourselves
to our fellow pumpkin growers in Australia
& South Africa ------ and everywhere on
the globe.)
Personally I look forward to the day that I see a 1,000 lb. pumpkin
grown in
Ecuador or the Ukraine.
No doubt this has been a year of controversy........( ie Gus Saunders
and
Ray Waterman).
I think our friends "down under" hit the
nail-on-the-head.......We are all suffering
from "pumpkin withdrawal";
.........I live 45 minutes northeast of
San Francisco. It was a sunny day
today here, and very cool.
(for this time of year)....... The ground was
dry enough....(it hasn't rained in two
weeks).......so I threw large quantities of leaves on the pumpkin patch
and tilled them in.

I am having "pumpkin withdrawal" No
doubt !!!!!!
I should be in the house near the
fireplace watching the 49er's game.......
but instead I'm running a rototiller thru
"half-wet" MUD (heavy clay - adobe)
 I must be hooked !!!!!!!!!!!!

"Soon" spring will come and save all
of us.

Until then may the "Spirit of Christmas"
carry us over until our '99 growing
season.
"Happy Holidays" to all
