Pollination question

While reading digests and FAQ's, I have seen many methods of pollination
(paintbrushes, masking tape, etc.).
However, I am still left with some questions:
1) How much male pollen should be used?
2) What part of the female flower should the contact be made with?
3) I notice ants and some other tiny bugs inside the flowers. Should I be
spraying the inside of the flowers?
