Oregon Update

Greeting from Oregon, its time once again for an ever entertaining and usually
stinky episode of the infamous Oregon Update brought to you by the weird and
wacky Pumpkinguru from the metropolis and now host of the most kick butt weigh
off in the world, Canby. Sometimes we all get a bit excited, at least I do,
when pumpkins are involved, so here we go. 1999 will be a good year for all
of us, I can just feel it. I am sorry about the long list of seeds I am
looking for, but I can't find them anywhere.
Here is the run down on the patch for 1999......
Site Zero... Future home of the Hmmm, not sure yet. A newly plotted site
after the pussywillow tree was removed and the grapes and kiwi were moved to a
more pumpkin-friendly position. No manure, no sprinkler, not much love yet,
but it will be there.
Site #1... Future home of my squash plants. I will back to back Xmas Tree
two plants here. No manure, but everything else is ready to go. Preseason
picks are the #900.5 Lyons 94, and the 612 Ciliberto, pending the outcome of
my seed hunt.
Site #2... Future home of This and That. Like site #1 no poop, but ready.
Site #3... Future home of my assistants plants. My lifelong friend helped
out last year and I donated a site to him this year. He likes the look of the
#737 Stellpflug and good god, a little #291 he grew his first year off my #469
Seed. He is going for the PNW squash record. No Poop, but ready.
Site #4... Future home of the Blank and Blank. No Poop, but ready. Note
that each of the last three years this site has had plants that were
splitters. Odd coincidence, or soil problem that doesn't show up in soil
samples? Hmmmmm
Site #5... Future site of the #946.5 Geerts barring the arrival of a #567.5
Mombert. This site produced the #513, #528, and the #789 off the #567.5
Mombert plant last year. No Poop, but ready.
Site #6... Future site of the not sure. This is the stump site, the stump is
now dug down to and ready for the powersaw. Trouble is I can lay down on it
and not cover it head to toe, its big, very big. This site also needs a
sprinkler, but it has Poop
Site #7... Future site of the ?. This is the Pampas grass site, also big,
very big and must go!!!! Needs sprinkler, but has POOOP!!
Site P-1 One of two pollinator sites, still needs a small stump removed and
a sprinkler and poop as does Site P-2.
Well, there it is, take care all, and to all a Happy New Year!
The Pumpkinguru
