Re: ph

Tom,
I promise you, lime raises the ph and sulfur lowers ph. I had the
same problem two years ago when I was adjusting the ph in my soil. It seems
certain people believe they have the right info. and freely give it out
without checking the facts. When I was in your shoes I called experienced
growers as well as my county extension agent. I even called the lab where
they do the testing in order to talk to a technician about raising and
lowering ph.
If you still don't believe me let me give you a common sense
illustration. We all know many conventional power plants use coal as there
source of energy. When they use coal the EPA requires them (putting it
simply) to wash their smoke and remove many of the impurities in the smoke
itself before releasing it into the air. If they don't it produces what
almost everyone knows as ACID rain. I'll give you one guess as to what one of
the largest byproducts of burning coal is? That's right SULFUR. Not Lime but
SULFUR. If it were lime I'm sure they would call it akaline rain instead.

Hope this helps

Brad
