Re: Working Soil Time and Clay
I have heard some bad things about clay, but 2 years ago I started a new
patch in clay soil and so far it produced an 815 last year and an 1190
this year. While clay is harder to work than sandy soil, it does hold
nutrients better. When I first started the patch I added 240 lbs. of
gypsum, 6 or 7 tons of cow manure, Ironite, some 10-10-10 and loads of
mulched leaves, this was all done in the fall of 97. Today I would not
trade my clay soil for any other type.
