Re: seed strings...


I live on Long Island...a fair distance from Larry's patch ....but  the 
summers heat has taken its toll on seed production.All of my seed counts were 
below 500,only one had major problem(100 or so) and that was a plant that had 
germination problems all spring...it may be genetic.
  I also used Ironite in both my patches this year....with no consistant seed 
problems.Some make alot,some don't !
 As far as the pumpkins in Larry's patch not getting those last two weeks to 
mature the seeds ...hogwash....I have run germination trials on 29 day old 
pumpkin's seeds(grown for 29 days after pollination then culling)  on a 
1010mackenzie x 879*rockwell cross and got 50% germination with healthy 
plants....of course I don't know what age the seeds get "the go-go juice" .
