Re: Soil Moisture Content

shredded coconut hulls hold moisture very well-pricey though. Sphagnum peat also works well, but is acidic.

Subject: Soil Moisture Content

Hi Everybody,

I grow in raised beds that are a 100% compost and manure blend with drip irrigation.  This blend tends to dry-out very quickly and does not wet easily.  Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could add to the mixture to achieve maximum moisture content.  I am aware of perlite and vermiculite but am searching for another answer as I'm not sure those will achieve the desired results.
