Well I was going to tell everyone about my electric blanket experiment but
as you have pointed out, Misters, soil heating
cables...............................everyone will really figure me for
nuts. Part of the problem is my new patch is located at the base of a small
mountain with a North Facing slope. As the sun moves south for the winter it
drops below the peak of the mountain. Thus I get no sun on the patch from
Mid November to late spring.  The ground does not come up to the proper temp
come planting time. This couple with the un-seasonably cold Springs we have
been experiencing brought me to the idea of using the heating cables. I
think I will try the black plastic as well!
