I used the cables this year ...and found they tend to dry the soil out
quicker as well..I dug down about 8" to check.......you may want to keep
a check on that..to...my soil is Clay with a sand mixture now ...about
1/2 & 1/2 which may have contriduted to drying out the mound a little
quicker....
