Re: Adding Clay


Glenn Needham....you know if they put the clay on top along the foundation it 
would work great as a basement waterproofing.Unfortunately its very difficult 
to compact clay to 95% of its maximum density(standard for construction to 
minimize settlement) when in the "chunky" condition the builder had it 
in....you can expect settlement in the future around the backfilled 
foundation creating a likely pitch towards the home leading rainwater to 
travel towards the house, down along the foundation and possibly into the 
basement via cracks in the concrete.......a most annoying 
problem..................G
