Rules and regulation

OK, let me see if I have this right:

For the third year in a row seed auctions have members of the Mallorn list
taking sides. So far it is hard to tell if anyone is winning, but it is
clear the list itself is taking the most damage, again.

Running a list takes very little effort, despite what many may believe. Dan
started this list and when he tired of running it Duncan, who had long made
it clear he wanted to run the list, eagerly took over. Now Duncan tells us
"I dont even read the mail anymore,". I found myself reacting to this line
in several ways, but amazingly found the strongest reaction was sadness. I
liked it better when Duncan participated on the original list, even if he
was an occasionally pest. :-)

Then comes "All of you should read this url. This is just a start of things
to come." and "I have more guidelines to follow". I half expect the next
message on this subject to instruct me to sit quietly at my desk with my
hands folded. Clearly I am having trouble accepting calls to attention from
someone who admits ."I dont even read the mail anymore. I then have to ask,
why would anyone run a list that they don't even read?

Lastly, to the one or two who may perceive this message as having a hidden
agenda, let me simply say I concluded, despite my involvement with another
list, that my several years on this Mallorn list still entitles me to
express an opinion. The other list was started to provide a place where
auctions, and exchanges of personal information not allowed on Mallorn could
co-exist, and complement, the Mallorn list. That purpose still exists. Two
lists Are, or at least Should be, better than one.
