After spending a few hours weeding the patch and pushing
vines into place I found a very handsome, spherical, basketball sized
pumpkin that is shiny whitish/yellow that looks a million dollars.
Barb, it is one of your :-)
I pulled it out the Boysenberries and placed it on the large
polystyrene slab conveniently on the footpath for easy foot access without
compacting the soil.
This looks a real beaut' and has my confidence of going
places come festival day. It feels really solid. It (soon to be called
'Dusty') is on the shady side of a lapwood fence while the plant is on the
sunny side so that is perfect.
I will place the traditional cardboard box over the top this
lunchtime to keep any sun off. The weather has settled a bit. This is a good
thing as our big 'Concerts on the Lake' are on this week with a special
tribute to those well know pumpkin growers, George and Ira Gershwin !!!!!
Summertime and the growin' is easy
Pollen is workin'' and that stamen is high
The soil's rich
and your pumpkin's good lookin'
So hush now Dusty
Doo-o-o-o-n't you dry.
Have a 'Parky' day
