Matt, I'd recommend that you "not" put any tarp under your fruit this year,
or to dig an indentation in the soil. With a tarp under it, you'll run a
chance of rot/mold developing on the tarp which could move to fruit. You'll
find it's fairly easy to tip the fruit one way and slide tarp under it and
then tip it the other way to pull rest of tarp under it, when it's time to
harvest your fruit. With my 837 last year it took 6 of us to tip and lift
onto the pallet. As far as an indentation under the fruit, avoid it. Your
fruit will always be fairly flat on bottom due to weight above. If you have
an indentation, you'll end up with a buldge on the bottom and since it will
be smaller than rest of the bottom, more weight will be put on it and will
probably split open due to this.Hope this helps. Pumpkinpiper
