Re: Adventure anwer
This is definately an interesting topic, and every grower will come up with
their own theories on this topic. My own thinking is that the most important
factor in producing a huge fruit is environmental.Weather, moisture, nutrients
are my main concern in my mission for success. Unfortunatly, I can only
control two of these factors, so it comes down to weather. If you look at
past weigh-off results in different regions, you can see a pattern of higher
weights in certain areas. If you compare the high rate regions to their
weather in growing season, generally it is optimum for plants that year.
This past year the Ohio Valley seemed to have great growing weather, and I'd
say they had best results ever for many growers. Here in northern
MN,May/June were terrible with to much cold and only 29 days of 8 hour or
more direct sunlight due to weather. Myself was 1 day from pulling plants,
and then July came with great weather. I also think we will never see a 1000
pounder from our deep southern regions in the states. To high of temps, and
shorter amounts of direct sunlight will keep this task from happening. Just
my thoughts. Pumpkinpiper
